Southeast Texas humidity can expose airflow, equipment-sizing, duct, and moisture-control problems that temperature alone does not show.
Common signs of excess indoor humidity
- The house feels sticky even at a normal thermostat setting.
- Windows or supply vents collect condensation.
- Rooms smell musty or fabrics feel damp.
- The system cools quickly but does not run long enough to remove moisture.
Possible causes
Oversized or short-cycling equipment
A system that reaches the thermostat setting too quickly may shut off before removing enough humidity.
Duct leakage
Leaks in an attic or crawlspace can pull hot, humid air into the system and home.
Drain or moisture issues
Drain problems and outside air entering the home can add moisture that the A/C must remove.
How we approach the problem
We check system operation, temperature split, airflow, coil condition, run time, thermostat settings, and visible duct concerns. We explain what is contributing to the humidity before recommending repairs or upgrades.
A lower thermostat setting is not always the answer. Correct airflow and proper system operation usually matter more.
