Replace a dirty filter with the correct size and type. Do not operate the system without a filter.

Weak airflow is a symptom—not the diagnosis.
Low air from the vents can come from a simple filter issue or a larger blower, coil, return-air, or duct problem.
Common causes of weak airflow
- Dirty or overly restrictive air filter.
- Dirty evaporator coil or blower wheel.
- Blower motor or control problem.
- Restricted, damaged, disconnected, or undersized ductwork.
- Not enough return-air capacity.
- Frozen coil caused by an airflow or refrigeration problem.

Check the registers
Make sure supply and return grilles are open and not blocked by furniture, rugs, or stored items.
When to call
If airflow remains weak, the coil is icing, the system is noisy, or only certain rooms are affected, the system needs a proper diagnosis. Continuing to run a frozen system can make the problem worse.
Frozen coil: Turn cooling off and allow the ice to melt before service. Do not chip ice from the coil.
